Vedakkaad Temple –Facts – Two Sreekovil

Vedakkaad Bhagavathy Temple is located at Porkulam in Thrissur district, Kerala. The temple is one among the 108 Durga temples in Kerala. The temple is referred to as ‘Rinanarayanam’ in Durga Stotra Namavali which narrates about the 108 Durga temples.

Vedakkaad temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and Goddess Karthiyayini. The temple here has two Sreekovil (Sanctum Sanctorum). The murti of Goddess Karthiyayini, as per some the Goddess is Mahishasuramardini, is swayambhu (self-manifested) form.

The most important festival here is the 9-day Navratri festival (September – October). There is no separate annual festival in the temple.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Ayyappan, Bhadrakali and Shiva.

The administration of the temple is managed by committee of local people.
