Vallabhassery Shiva Temple

Vallabhassery Shiva temple is located at Alathuruthy near Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva. The temple is one among the numerous temples in Kerala in which pratishta was performed by Sri Narayana Guru.

As per history, Sri Narayana Guru removed the old pratishtha in the temple and consecrated the image of Shiva and Goddess Parvati in the sreekovil. It is also said that Sri Narayana Guru had installed a Vel (lance of Muruga) here.

Maha Shivratri in Kumbham month and Thrikarthika in Vrischikam month are of great significance here. Thaipooyam is also observed here.

Monday is of great importance in the temple. The shrine observes Pradosham on the 12th or the 13th day of a fortnight.
