Thodupuzha Sri Krishna Temple – Facts – History

Thodupuzha Sri Krishna temple located on the banks of a river in Thodupuzha town in Idukki district, Kerala. The murti sankalpam is that of Unnikrishnan. The murti of Krishna here holds butter in one of his hands.

The darshanam of Thodupuzha Sri Krishna temple is towards east.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Shiva, Sastha, Bhagavathi and Nagam.

The 10-day annual festival is observed in such a way that arattu is observed on Thiruvonam nakshatra after Chothi Nakshatra in Meenam month.

As per history, the murti was brought here and installed and performed puja by Brahmins who were fleeing the attack and persecution of Tipu Sultan in North Kerala.
