Manarcad Thrikkayil Sree Mahadeva Temple Facts – History

Manarcad Thrikkayil Sree Mahadeva temple is located at Manarcadu in Kottayam district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva. The popular belief here is that the Shivling worshipped in the temple was installed by Arjuna, the third of the Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata.

The darshanam of Manarcaud Thrikkayil Sree Mahadeva is toward east.

Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Nagaraja, and Nagayakshi.

As per history, the temple was built by King Dharmaraja of Travancore. The king hand over the administration to Manarcad Warrier, who adorned the Ezhuthassan title in the Travancore kingdom.
