Aruvikkara Bhagavathy Temple – Information

Aruvikkara Bhagavathi temple is located at Aruvikkara on the banks of Karamanayaru in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Sapta Matrikas. The darshanam of Aruvikkara Bhagavathi is towards east.

The deities worshipped here were earlier known as Aruvikkara Ammamar. Among the Sapta Matrikas importance is given to Goddess Vaishnavi.

This is one of the rare temples in Kerala in which prathishta was performed by Sage Vyasa.

The sreekovil of the temple has three nadas (three doors for sanctum) but only one of them is opened.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Nagam, Nagayakshi and Dharma Sastha. A temple pond in the vicinity is noted for unusually big fishes.

The temple belonged to Chengannur Alappurathu Madom.
