Thurayil Kavu Bhagavathi temple is located at Karanthur in Kuruvattoor village, Kozhikode district, Kerala. The murti of Thurayil Kavu Bhagavathi is swayambhu shila – a stone murti of divine appearance. The darshanam of Bhagavathi is towards west.
The temple is one among the 108 Durga temples in Kerala. The temple is known as Avattoor in Durga Nama Stotra Namavali.
Only one puja is held in a day. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Hanuman and Vettaikkaran. There is no festival in the temple.
The shrine is located amidst a ten acre kavu (grove). The grove is inhabited by monkeys.
