Puthiyidam Sree Krishna Temple Near Kayamkulam - History - Festival

Puthiyidam Sree Krishna temple is located near Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Sri Krishna Bhagavan. The deity faces west. It is believed that earlier the darshan of the deity was towards east.

The temple has a circular sanctum sanctorum (vatta sreekovil).

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are two Ganapathys, Shiva Ayyappa, Murugan and Nagarajavu.

The 10-day annual festival begins on Rohini Nakshatra in Medam month (April – May) with kodiyettam. The festival ends with Arattu.

As per some scholars the temple belonged to Kayamkulam king.
