Kara Bhagavathi temple is located at Kara Koothambeth on Mattannur – Anjarakandy road in Kannur district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. Some scholars are of the view that this is one among the 108 Durga temples in Kerala.
It is a small temple. In Durga Stotra Namavali there is a reference to Kara temple and it is believed that this the shrine referred.
But some scholars are of the view that the Kara temple of 108 Durga temples in Kerala is the one located at Kara (7 km east of Kodungallur) in Thrissur district.
