Sree Kainila Shiva temple is located at Kumaranchira (on Irinjalakuda – Karalam road) in Thrissur district, Kerala. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Shiva who faces east.
The Shivling is consecrated inside a circular sanctum sanctorum – vatta sreekovil. Puja is performed only one time in a day.
The main Upa Devata in the temple is Ganapathy.
The important festival observed in the temple is Navratri.
As per history, the temple belonged to Perumanam village. Due to some difference of opinion among villagers, the temple was given away to Nairs of the area.
The temple is now managed by Cochin Devaswom Board.
