Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha Temple Tripunithura - History - Information - Festival

Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple is located Tripunithura in Kochi, Kerala. Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple 2024 date is January 11 to January 16. The main festival begins on Dhanu 26 or 27 and ends on Makaram 1. The festival is famous for melam and fireworks. The deity is taken for ezhunnallathu accompanied by five elephants. The festival ends with Arattu.

Special rituals and festivities are held during the 41 days of Mandala kalam starting from November 16 to December 27. Sastham Pattu is held on the first Saturday of Vrischikam month. Kalamezhuthu Pattu for Bhadrakali is observed on the first Friday of Vrischikam month.

The Uthiram nakshatra in Meenam month is observed as Panguni Uthiram. Kuttappani Naivedyam, Uthram Thirunal Sadya, Sangeetha Archana and Pushpa Abhishekam too are held.

Vishu is another festival observed in the temple.

Niramala is observed on the last day of Karkidakam month.

The main deity worshipped in the temple is Sastha or Ayyappa. The temple closes at night singing the Harivarasanam just as in Sabarimala Ayyappa temple.

The belief is that the Sastha at Thamaramkulangara arrived here along with the poojari (temple priest) from Chamravattom. It is believed Sastha arrived here in the umbrella (ola kuda) of poojari in the form of a lizard.

The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple are Ganapathy, Bhadrakali, Nagaraja and Brahmarakshas.
