Kannanoor Bhagavathy Temple History - Festival

Kannanoor Bhagavathy temple is located on the Pattambi – Thrithala road in Palakkad District. The annual festival is observed from Makayiram nakshatra to Uthiram nakshatra in Meenam month. The kodiyettam takes place on Makayiram nakshatra and arattu on uthiram nakshatra.

Kannanoor Bhagavathy Temple Festival

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. This is one among the 108 Durga temples in Kerala and is referred to as Pakannur in the Durgalaya nama stotram. The Durga in the temple has a smiling face.

The main deity faces east. The upa devatas are Kannan in the north side, Jyeshta bhagavati in the south side, Oorakathamma in the middle, Ganapathy, Ayyappan and Bhadrakali.

Bhagavan Sri Krishna is popularly known as Kannan and he also has Dhanvantari Bhavam. Oorakathamma murti worshipped here was brought by 32 families from another region. She was installed in the shrine by them.
