Dharmrajeshwar Temple – Hindu Temple Carved Out Of Single Rock

Dharmrajeshwar Temple, also famous as Dharmrajeshwar Cave Temple, is located in Garoth town of Mandsaur District, Madhya Pradesh. Dharmrajeshwar Temple is a monolithic temple. This brilliant temple was carved in a huge rock not built separately.

In the 9th century, this temple was carved by using solid natural rocks. The temple is carved in the North Indian style architecture. Dharmrajeshwar Temple is compared with world famous Kailash Temple of Ellora. 

The main temple houses a Shivling and a murti of Bhagwan Vishnu.

The temple has been carved out of a rock that was 50 m high and 20 m wide. Sculptures of Bhagavan Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi have been engraved in the frame of the entrance of the main temple. The smaller temples of the complex have sculptures of Bhairava, Goddess Kali, Shiva, Garuda and Goddess Parvati.
