Here are few things you can do on Navami day During Durga Puja for a healthy, wealthy and peaceful life.
On the day of Navami, give married women items for
make-up/adornment.
On this day, offer 1 or 8 lotus flowers to the Goddess. Not
just lotuses, but you must also offer Aparajita flowers to the Goddess on this
day. Offer 1 or 108 Bel leaves.
Along with this, give the Goddess a red orna
(scarf/dupatta), makhana (fox nuts), and batasha (sugar puffs). Also give some
coins. This appeases the Goddess and drives away sorrow and suffering.
If possible, light a lamp in the name of the Goddess in the Agni
Kona (South-East corner) of your house on Navami. Be sure to perform the arati
(lamp ceremony) for the Goddess in the evening.
If you are suffering from financial hardship, bathe Goddess
Durga with Ganga water on this day (you can also keep a small pot as Durga by
drawing a Swastika outside it and fill it with water). Recite the Durga Raksha
Kavach (Durga protection shield mantra). Perform kapoor (camphor) arati in
front of Goddess Durga on Navami. Similarly, reciting the Durga Stotra on this
day is considered auspicious.
Do not wear black colored clothing by mistake on Navami. Instead,
wear purple colored clothing. To avoid marital discord, do not eat gourd (lau)
on Navami.
A Hom (fire ritual) is performed on Navami. Bring a little
of that ash home and keep it in any sacred place in the house. This removes Vastu
Dosh (architectural/directional faults).
On this special day, apply honey on both sides of five rose
petals and leave them near the Goddess. You will get auspicious results from
this.
Feeding a feast to 9 Kumaris (young unmarried girls) at home
on Navami is considered extremely auspicious.
