Ganesha with Human Face – Adi Vinayakar Temple at Thilatharpanapuri in Tamil Nadu

Thilatharpanapuri is located around 3 km from Kothanur in Tamil Nadu and the place is famous for Muktheeswarar Temple – shrine well known for performing Shradh rituals. Outside this famous shrine is a unique shrine dedicated to Ganesha with a human face. The shrine is known as Adi Vinayagar Temple or Naramuga Vinayagar Temple.

It is believed that this form Ganesha is the one created by Goddess Parvati before Shiva cut off the head in anger.
