List of Food Items Offered at the Puri Jagannath Temple - Mahaprasad Food Items

To offer to the deities, numerous dishes (Mahaprasad) are prepared in the kitchens of Puri Jagannath Temple. The kitchens in the temple are one of the largest in the world and can prepare food for 100,000 people. Here are the food items that are offered to Jagannath at the temple. The food offered to the deities is later distributed as Prasad.

Devotees believe that receiving Mahaprasad will bring virtue, purity and piety.

Two types of food are prepared for the Lord. Those that are prepared in the temple kitchens are known as Sankhudi. These are food prepared using rice, gram and other vegetables.
