In his commentary on the Vedas, Sayana mentions the speed of
light. Sayana was a 14th century commentator on the Vedas. He lived
in the Vijayanagar Empire.

"[O Sun,] bow to you, you who traverse 2,202 yojanas in half a nimesha.".
