1000 Rupees India Commemorative Coin on One Thousand years of Brihadeeswara Temple – Book Online at India Government Mint

India Government Mint, Mumbai has made arrangements for the sale of commemorative coin sets in Proof and Uncirculated varieties released on the occasion of ‘1000 Years of Brihadeeswarar Temple’. The denomination of the coins are 1000 rupees and 5 rupees and is available as a set. The set of coins are priced at Rs. 4,875.00. Foreign Nationals can also buy the coin dedicated to Brihadeeswara Temple (but only in dollars).

You can make bookings for the coin from July 3, 2012 to August 31, 2012.

Built in 1010 AD by Raja Raja Chola, the Brihadeeswara Temple at Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, popularly known as Big Temple, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 1,000 years of Brihadeeswara Temple was observed in 2010.
