Efforts to create a manual for Similar Puja and Rituals in Jagannath Temples around the World

Efforts are underway to create a manual based on Skanda Purana for Similar Puja and Rituals in Jagannath Temples around the World. There are thousands of Jagannath Temples in India and around the world. The most important Jagannath Temple is located at Puri in Orissa and is believed to be the Mool Sthan or Srimandir (permanent abode) of Jagannath.
Daily Pioneer reports
The manual is being prepared by the Mukti Mandap on the basis of the Skandha Puran and after it is finalized, it will seek the approval of the Sankaracharya before being recommended for observance, according to Gajapati Maharaja of Puri Dibyasingh Dev.
The Gajapati told media persons here on Saturday that for the promotion and extension of the Jagannath cult worldwide, the Jagannath Temple Administration is going to organize ‘Sri Jagannath Mandir Aikya Sthapan’, to forge oneness among the Jagannath temples in the country and abroad, and a national conference during the ‘Sri Jagannath Pancha Ratra’ (Five nights for discussion on Jagannath cult) from February 9 to 14 at Puri, informed the Gajapati who is chairman of the Srimandir Managing Committee.
“Hundreds of Jagannath temples are there in the State and abroad and new temples are also coming up. Srimandir administration requests them to follow at least some rituals in their service to Lord Jagannath, out of those being followed in Srimandir. A national-level conference will be held on February 10 and 11 to make the administrators of the  Jagannath temples aware about the rituals followed at the Srimandir for bringing parity in rituals and festivals in all temples throughout the world,” the Gajapati said.
