Shri Dwarakadish Patotsav – Kankroli Dwarkadish Temple Swaroop Inception Festival in Rajasthan

Kankroli Dwarkadhish Temple in Rajasthan is one of the most important temples dedicated to Hindu God Dwarkadhish – Krishna. Shri Dwarkadhish Patotsav 2024 date is July 11. Patotsav is a sort of re-consecration ceremony held in temples in western and northern parts of India. In the ritual, a strip of garment tied on the head of a murti. The ritual re-invokes the Deity and is annually held on the consecration day.

Legend has it that the murti of Krishna worshipped in the Kankroli Dwarkadhish Temple in Rajasthan originally belonged to Gokul in Vrindavan. To save the murti from the attack of mughal ruler Aurangzeb, it was moved to a village near Udaipur in Rajasthan. Finally, it was moved to Kankroli near Nathdwara during the 18th century.

Today, the magnificent temple of Dwarkadhish Ji is located on the banks of Rajsamand Lake (Raisagar) in Kankroli.

The Patotsav is annually held on the fifth day during the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Ashada Month.
