Skanda Panchami

Dedicated to Lord Muruga, Skanda Panchami (Kanda Panjami) is observed on the fifth day after the Amavasi (no moon) in the month month of Ashada (June – July) in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and on the fifth day after Amavasya in Aani month in Tamil calendar. In 2025, the date of Skanda Panchami is June 30.


Lord Muruga is also known as Lord Kartik, Kartikeya and Subramanya. The day after Skanda Panchami is observed as Kumar Shasti (Kumara Sashti) in certain parts of India and Nepal. In such regions, the belief is that Lord Muruga appeared on the day.
