Dol Purnima is the full moon day in the month of Phalgun as per the traditional calendar followed in Orissa. Dol Purnima 2017 date is March 12. Dola Poornima coincides with the Holi festival and is the final day of the six-day festival which begins on the Phalgun Dasami day (10th day during the waxing phase of moon in Falguna month). The festival is also known as Dolajatra or Dol Yatra.
In some region the Holi festival ends only on the tenth day and it is known as Dasa Dola.
The highlights of the Dol Purnima are the swing festival of Radha and
Krishna and burning of demons Holika and Mesha.
In Orissa, the play of Holi is held the day after Dol Purnima.
