The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at Srirangam Sri Ranganatha temple is divided into ten days of Pagal pathu and ten days of rapathu or Irappatthu.
The ten days of Pagal pathu or Pagalpatthu begins on
The ten days of ra pathu or Irappatthu begins on December 20 with the Vaikunda Ekadasi or Sorga Vasal Ekadasi. Irappathu ends on December 29. Nammalwar Moksham is on Decmber 30.
On the Vaikunta Ekadasi day, Lord Ranganatha (Vishnu) comes out through the Paramapada Vasal and arrives at Thirumamani Mandapam (in the thousand pillared hall). Lord Rangaraja then precedes over his divine court and is visited by thousands of devotees. Nalayira Dhivyaprabandham is recited throughout the day and devotees spend the entire period singing and chanting.
