How to do Mental Worship in Hinduism? – Manasa Puja

Manasa Puja (mental worship) through this will grant you prosperity, wealth, longevity, and peace: Here is a brief idea on how to perform Mental worship which can performed anywhere and anytime.

Archana (offering prayers) is a practice that must be performed daily without fail. Along with this, Manasa pooja is another practice that should be done. Acharyas (spiritual masters) have attributed great significance to Manasa puja. Numerous Manasapoojas dedicated to various deities have been composed in the form of hymns (stotras).

The usual method is to perform Manasa pooja while seated properly on any suitable seat (it is noteworthy that Manasa pooja can be performed anytime and anywhere). Sitting on the same seat prepared for Archana, close your eyes, and first visualize your chosen deity (Ishta Murthi) within yourself. The seeker must make proper use of their imaginative power.

Closing your eyes, use your mind's eye to visualize a golden throne either at the heart center or right in front of you. Imagine your chosen deity seated on it. Next, mentally visualize bathing (abhisheka) the presiding deity with pure water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, rose water, etc.

Imagine adorning the deity with beautiful silk garments, a golden crown, gold ornaments, and so on. Visualize applying a tilak on their holy forehead and offering a flower garland around their neck. Mentally perform the floral offering (pushparchana), food offering (naivedya), camphor light (aarthi), circumambulation (pradakshina), and prostration (namaskara) to the deity.

Thus, performing Manasa puja by offering worship through one's imagination is immensely helpful for the seeker's concentration, purity of mind, and consequently, spiritual growth.

The power gained through focused Manasa Pooja is greater than even the power obtained by having rituals performed by priests and ritual specialists for many years.
