Sri Kukkuvadeshwari Temple is situated in the heart of the Ammanagudda forest, approximately 5 km from Joladal Village in Channagiri Taluk of Davanagere District, Karnataka. The temple is surrounded by lush greenery and a peaceful natural environment especially during the monsoon season.
Sri Kukkuvadeshvari Temple has a history spanning more than 400 years. The temple is dedicated to Bhagavati Sri Kukkuvadeshwari, who is revered as Adi Shakti, Ishwari, and Parameshwari—the Divine Mother Shakti who lovingly fulfills the sincere prayers and wishes of Her devotees.
Ammanagudda Sri Kukkuvadeshwari Temple Story
Long ago, this region was covered by a dense forest, and the village was then known as Kukkavada. At that time, a cow belonging to a local villager stopped giving milk. Suspecting something was wrong, Gowda questioned the boy who was responsible for caring for the cow. Disappointed by Gowda's suspicion, the boy decided to follow the cow when it was left to graze in the forest. There, he witnessed the cow letting its milk flow over an anthill, and he immediately informed the villagers.
When the villagers gathered to see this astonishing sight, the goddess appeared to a little girl. She revealed that she resided within the anthill and commanded them to build a temple for her at that very spot. The villagers then retrieved the idol of the goddess and installed it in front of the anthill to build the temple. Goddess Ishwari, who had come and settled in Kukkavada, thus became known as Kukkavadeshwari.
Next to the goddess's temple stands the temple of her son, Parasurama, and opposite to it is the temple of Matangamma. It remains an important place of worship, especially for farmers seeking a good harvest.
Although it is a sacred religious site, many devotees visit today because of the miracles that continue to happen here.

thousands of devotees gather at the temple to receive the sacred darshan of the Divine Mother and participate in the temple's spiritual activities.

The sacred Maha Mangalarati is performed three times daily:

- 12:00 PM

Devotees cook both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food in the temple premises and offer it to the deity to receive the divine blessings of Sri Kukkuvadeshwari Amma.
There is a huge tree in the premises of the temple where devotees tie colorful clothes for desire fulfillment.
