Rathotsava 2026 - Chariot Festival At Yellodu Sri Lakshmi Adi Narayanaswamy Temple

Sri Lakshmi Adi Narayanaswamy Temple is dedicated to Bhagavan Srihari Vishnu and is located at Yellodu near Chikkaballapur in Karnataka. The annual Rathotsava or chariot festival is of great importance in the temple. During the month of Magha, special poojas are performed every Sunday, and on the third Sunday the Rathotsava (chariot festival) is held. Hundreds of devotees participate in the annual pulling of the chariot in the premise of the temple. A fair is held on the day. Various pujas for the welfare of all living beings are part of the ritual. Vegetarian food is served on the occasion.

Sri Lakshmi Adinarayana Swamy Temple is located on the foothills. One has to climb 618 steps to reach the temple.

Special food donations are done on Sunday in the temple.

Satyanarayana Swamy pooja is performed on all Purnima (full moon) days at the foothill temple. The Kalyana Utsava (also called Kalyanotsavam) is conducted at the Ganesha Temple near the main entrance of the temple. On the hill, offering of hair (tonsure) is performed every Sunday.

The surrounding scenic beauty, the lake, and the lush greenery are truly a feast for the eyes.
