Kotheri Asharikkandi Bhagavathy temple is located at Kotheri in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and numerous other deities. The annual kaliyattam theyyam thira festival is held for three days in Malayalam Meena Masam – Meenam 25 to Meenam 27 (April 8 to April 10).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kotheri
Asharikkandi Bhagavathy temple are Bali theyyam, Kuttichathan theyyam, Gulikan
theyyam, Elladathu Bhagavathi theyyam, Bhairavan theyyam, Vishnumoorthi
theyyam, Uchitta theyyam and Pottan theyyam.
The temple has a small chathura sreekovil for the main
deity. The roof of the small shrine is decorated with traditional temple
motifs. There are other smaller sreekovils. Some deities are offered worship
under trees and upon raised platforms. The shrine observes important rituals
and festivities including Sankranti in every month and yearly Vishu.
