Jayanagar Sri Vinayaka Swamy Temple History
The Sri Vinayaka Swamy Temple, located in Jayanagar 4th Block, Bengaluru city, was taken under government control on 04-01-2014 as per the orders of the Honorable Government. Subsequently, on 03-09-2016, the temple was officially declared a “notified institution” by government order.
The temple was originally constructed in the year 1977 with the support and cooperation of devotees and the general public. The temple houses a man-made idol and dates back to the 20th century, making it approximately 44 years old.
The main deity of the temple is Sri Vinayaka Swamy. Devotees receive the blessings of the Lord by performing abhisheka (ritual bathing), alankara (decorative worship), and having darshan (viewing of the deity).
Additionally, the temple has shrines for:

Navagraha (Nine celestial planets),

Naga Devata (Serpent deity), and

Mrityunjaya Swamy.

Within the temple premises stands a Peepal tree (Arali mara), around which Naga stones have been consecrated. Interestingly, the trunk of the tree bears shapes resembling an elephant’s trunk.
The idol of Sri Vinayaka Swamy is carved from a single stone. The temple also features 32 carved forms of Ganesha on its gopuram (temple tower). Surrounding the temple are four ancient gates, each engraved with 32 images of Ganesha.
Devotees offer abhisheka, decorative worship, and kadubu garland services to Lord Vinayaka, seeking relief from troubles and to attain good outcomes in their lives.
