Vengara Moolakeel Kizhakkara Kavu temple is located at Chemballikund in Vengara near Madayi in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Chamundi, Bhootham and other deities. The theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for a couple of days once in few years.
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Vengara Moolakeel Kizhakkara Kavu temple are Velutha Bhootham theyyam, Madayil Chamundi theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil – square
sanctum sanctorum. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms and under
trees. The roof and walls of the main shrine are decorated with traditional
temple motifs. Sankranti in every month is of great significance.
