Paravanthatta Sree Udayapuram temple is located at Paravanthatta in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy and Puli Daivangal. The annual temple theyyam kaliyattam thira festival is held for four days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 5 to Dhanu 8 (December 20 to December 23).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Paravanthatta Sree Udayapuram temple are Puthiya Bhagavathi theyyam, Karinthiri Nair theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Pulikandan theyyam, Puliyoor Kali theyyam, Puliyoor Kannan theyyam and Pullikarinkali theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. There are other smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other
deities. Certain deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in a Malayalam
month is of great importance.
