Koyyodan Korath Temple – Kaliyattam Thira Theyyam Festival

Koyyodan Korath temple is located at Palloor in Mahe. The shrine is dedicated to Sasthappan or Kuttichathan and other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 15 to Makaram 17 (January 29 to Jan 31). The shrine is famous for witnessing more 20 Kuttichathan theyyams together. Several Gulikan theyyams are also part of the festivities.


Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Koyyodan Korath temple temple are Kuttichathan or Sasthappan theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Khandakarnan theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Uchitta theyyam and Thekkan Gulikan theyyam.

This is a small beautiful Kerala style temple with traditional architecture. There is a chathura sreekovil for the main deity. There are also small sreekovils and square platforms for worshipping subsidiary deities. Some deities are worshipped under trees. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great importance here.
