Kottakkunnu Sree Puthiya Bhagavathy temple is located at Kottakkunnu in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Puthiya Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for four days in Malayalam Makara Masam – Makaram 10 to Makaram 13 (January 24 to Jan 27).
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil – square
sanctum sanctorum. There are other smaller structures for other deities
including small square raised platforms. Some deities are worshipped under
trees.
The main theyyams that can be witnessed at Kottakkunnu Sree Puthiya Bhagavathy temple are Puthiya Bhagavathi theyyam, Kandapuli theyyam, Nagakanni theyyam, Sasthappan theyyam, Ilamkolam theyyam, Thai Paradevatha theyyam, Thee Chamundi or Ottakolam theyyam, Veera Kali theyyam and Veeran theyyam.
