Kamballur Kottayil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Kamballur near Vellarikundi – Chittarikkal in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Chamundi and numerous other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Thula Masam – Thulam 11 and Thulam 12 (October 27 to October 28).
Important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kamballur Kottayil Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Kalanthan Mukri theyyam, Karim Chamundi theyyam, Akko Chamundi theyyam, Mudanthemma theyyam, Nattudukkam Veeran theyyam Palakki Chamundi and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
The temple resembles and ancient tharavadu. There are specific
designated for each deity worshipped in the temple. Some deities are worshipped
under trees and atop of raised platforms.
