Azhikode Makkuni Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Azhikode in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Thamburatty, Vayanattu Kulavan and other deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Meda Masam – Medam 10 to Medam 12 (April 23 to April 25).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Azhikode
Makkuni Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Gulikan theyyam, Kandanarkelan
theyyam, Thamburatty theyyam and Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil – square
sanctum sanctorum. Some deities are worshipped on square platforms and under
trees. The roof and walls of the main shrine are decorated with traditional
temple motifs. Sankranti in every month is of great significance.
