Kovvappuram Sree Gurukkalottu Bhagvathy temple is located at Kovappuram near Kannapuram in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Bhagavathy and numerous other deities commonly worshipped in the region. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for a day in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 28 (March 12).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kovvappuram Sree Gurukkalottu Bhagvathy temple
are Thai Paradevatha theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Dhooliyanga Bhagavathy theyyam,
Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Bali theyyam and Dharma Daivam.
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil for the
main deity. The roof of the shrine is traditionally decorated. There are other
smaller sreekovils and raised platforms for other deities. Sankranti in a
Malayalam month is of great importance.
