Thana Poothattakkavu temple is located at Thana near Kannur town in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and Vayanattu Kulavan. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 14 and Dhanu 15 (December 30 and December 31).
The important theyyams that are performed at Thana Poothatta Kavu temple are Elladathu Bhagavathy theyyam and Vayanattu Kulavan theyyam.
The temple has a small chathura sreekovil for the main
deity. The main puja in a month is observed on the Sankranti day as per
traditional Malayalam calendar.
