Kappana Sree Veerabhadra Swamy Temple – Theyyam Kaliyattam Festival

Kappana Sree Veerabhadra Swamy temple is located at Kappana near Nellippara in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Veerabhadra Swamy and related deities. The annual kaliyattam theyyam thira festival is held for three days in Malayalam Dhanu Masam – Dhanu 9 to Dhanu 12 (December 24 to December 26).

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Kappana Sree Veerabhadra Swami temple are Veeerabhadra Swami theyyam, Allattu Bhagavathy theyyam, Nattumoorthi theyyam, Veerambinar, Padaveeran, Vannathi Bhagavathy theyyam and Parakaliyamma theyyam.

The temple has a small chathura sreekovil for the main deity. There is another smaller square sanctum. A deity is worshipped atop square platform and other deities under trees.
