Cheriyath Kavu Nagasthanam temple is located at Narath in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Nagas or serpents, Bhagavathy, Bhootham and Vishnumoorthi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held on the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Dhanu Masam (December).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Cheriyath Kavu Nagasthanam temple are Naga Kanya theyyam, Gulikan theyyam, Bhootham theyyam, Oorpazhassi theyyam, Naga Rajavu theyyam, Raktheshwari theyyam, Thai Paradevatha theyyam, Vettakkorumakan theyyam and Vishnumoorthi theyyam.
The temple has a grove (kavu or sacred small growth of trees,
creepers and bushes). There are also chathura sreekovil (square sanctum
sanctorum). Some deities are worshipped atop small square platform and under
trees. Ayilyam nakshatra day in all Malayalam masam if of great importance
here. The temple also performs special pujas and rituals on Sankranti day.
