Ramanthali Karappath Ara Temple – Kaliyattam Theyyam Thira Festival – Pulli Kurathi Theyyam

Ramanthali Karappath Ara temple (Kodivalappil Tharavadu) is located at Karappath Pandaravalappu near Ramanthali in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Vishnumoorthi and Pramanjeri Bhagavathi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 7 and Kumbham 8 (February 19 and Feb 20). One can witness the rare Pulli Kurathi theyyam here.

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Ramanthali Karappath Ara temple are Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Pramanjeri Bhagavathi, Pulli Kurathi, Kundora Chamundi and Kudiveeranmar.

The temple has a square sanctum sanctorum (chathura sreekovil) for the main deity. The upa devatas are worshipped atop square platforms, small chathura sreekovil and under trees. Sankranti in every Malayalam month is of great significance here.

രാമന്തളി കരപ്പാത്ത് അറ കളിയാട്ടം  ഫെബ്രുവരി 14, 15 തീയതികളില്‍ നടക്കും. പ്രമാഞ്ചേരി ഭഗവതി, വിഷ്ണു മൂര്‍ത്തി, പുള്ളി കുറത്തി, കുണ്ടോറ ചാമുണ്ഡി, കുടിവീരന്മാര്‍ എന്നീ തെയ്യങ്ങള്‍ കെട്ടിയാടും.
