Ponniam Sree Muchilottu Bhagavathi temple is at Ponniam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Muchilottu Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 4 to Kumbham 6 (February 16 to Feb 18).
The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Ponniam Sree Muchilottu Bhagavathi temple are Kannangattu Bhagavathi theyyam, Puliyoor Kali theyyam, Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Narambil Bhagavathy theyyam and Muchilottu Bhagavathi theyyam.
The temple has square sanctum sanctorum – chathura sreekovil
– for the main deity. Some deities are worshipped under trees and atop square
platforms. There are smaller sreekovils for other deities. Sankranti in every month
is of great importance here. Vishu is an important festival here.
