Azhiyur Manayil Naga Bhagavathy temple is located at Azhiyur at Mahe (Mayyazhi). The shrine is dedicated to Naga or Serpent. The other deities that are worshipped in the temple are Gulikan, Kuttichathan, Subramanyan and Ayyappan. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 18 and Kumbham 19 (March 2 and March 3).
This is a small shrine with a chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum. Two main deities are worshipped in the single sanctum. There are other chathura sreekovils for other deities. Some deities are worshiped atop square platforms. Some deities are offered prayers under trees. Friday is an important day in a week here. Ayiliyam nakshatram in all Malayalam month is of importance here.
