Vengara Kadankottu Valappil Poomala Bhagavathy Devasthanam temple is located at Vengara near Pazhayangadi in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Poomala Bhagavathy. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for two days in Malayalam Meena Masam – Meenam 4 to Meenam 5 (March 18 and March 19).
This is a small shrine with a main sreekovil – square sanctum
sanctorum. Other important deities are worshipped on even smaller sreekovil, on
raised platforms and under trees. Vishu and Sankranti are important days in the
shrine.
The important theyyam performed here is that of Arya Poomala
and Poomaruthan theyyam.
