Rudirakali Theyyam kolam (രുധിരക്കാളി) is a very rare theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod regions of Kerala. As per information, Rudira Kali is a ferocious and dangerous female theyyam. As per Rudirakali theyyam story, she is believed to have arrived in the region from another region especially through a boat. She creates havoc in the region, to keep her calm she is given a place of worship. A theyyam is annually performed to get her blessings and to avoid any untoward incident.
This theyyam can be witnessed at Mattannur – Malur Aryaparambu
Sree Koottakkalam temple in Kannur district on April 4 – Meenam 21 (Malayalam
Meena Masam 21).
This is one among the couple of Manathana theyyam (മണത്തണ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ) performed
at Aryaparambu Sree Koottakkalam temple. There is a ritual known as Rudirakali
Kulichezhunellathal here.
