Karinthalam Kalariyal Bhagavathy Temple – Karinthalam Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam – Kaliyattam Festival

Karinthalam Kalariyal Bhagavathy Temple, also known as Karinthalam Tharavadu Devasthanam temple, is located at Karinthalam near Nileshwar in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and various other deities worshipped in the kavu and tharavadu in the region. The annual theyyam kaliyattam festival in the temple is held for two days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 24 and Kumbham 25 (March 8 and March 9).

This is very old privately maintained tharavadu temple. The shrine has a unique old structure and is well maintained.

The important theyyams performed at Karinthalam Kalariyal Bhagavathy temple are Bhootham, Bhairavar, Cheriya Bhagavathy, Vadakkevalappil Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi and Dandiyanangathu Bhagavathy.
