Chalad Sree Madathankandi Kavu Temple – Kaliyattam Theyyam Festival

Chalad Sree Madathankandi Kavu temple is located on Chalad - Manjappalam Roadd, Manjapalam in Kannur district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to warrior deities. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival is held for three days in Malayalam Kumbha Masam – Kumbham 25 to Kumbham 27 (March 9 to March 11).

This is a traditional small shrine with a chathura sreekovil – square sanctum sanctorum of the main deities. The other deities of the temple are worshipped in smaller shrines, raised platforms and under trees.

The important theyyams that can be witnessed at Sree Madathankandi Kavu temple are Aadimoliyadan Daivam, Karivedan theyyam, Kudiveeran theyyam and Thekkan Gulikan.
