Bovikkanam Muliyaar Karicheri Tharavadu Devasthanam Temple – Theyyam – Kaliyattam Festival

Bovikkanam Muliyaar Karicheri Tharavadu Devasthanam temple is located at Bovikanam in Kasaragod district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and other deities popularly worshipped in tharavadu and kavu in the region. The annual theyyam kaliyattam festival is held for two days once in two years in Malayalam Meena Masam (March 21 and March 22) – Meenam 7 and Meenam 8.


This is a small privately owned and managed temple. The main sanctum is a small sreekovil. There are other sreekovil and raised platforms for subsidiary deities. Some deities are worshiped under trees. Vishu and Sankranti are important days in the temples.

The main theyyams performed at Bovikkanam Muliyaar Karicheri Tharavadu Devasthanam temple are Padinjare Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Raktheswari theyyam, Pottan theyyam, Monthi kolam and Vattakayath Chamundi theyyam.
