Aryaparambu Sree Koottakkalam temple is located at Mattannur – Malur in Kannur district, Kerala. The annual theyyam kaliyattam festival in the temple is unique and one can witness some rare theyyams here like the Asurakali, Rudirakali, Neelakarinkali, Moothachi Pothi and Kaitha Chamundi. The annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in the temple is held for three days in Malayalam Meena Masam – Meenam 20 to Meenam 22 (April 3 to April 5). The festival begins on April 2 with few important rituals. Theyyams appear from April 3 onwards.
This is a small temple dedicated to Moothappan and other popular deities seen in the region. The main shrine is raised small square platform exposed to the elements of nature. Other deities that are worshipped in tharavadu and kavu in Kannur region are worshiped on square platforms and under trees. There are no main temple structure here.
The annual festival begins with Ganapathi homam and the
Kalavara Nirakkal Ghosha Yatra. The first ritual is the Malayirakkal of Muthappan.
This is followed by Muthappan Vellattam, Adiyara Ghosha Yatra and Kalikkapattu.

Vishnumoorthi, Marathani Neelakarinkali and Moothachi Pothi.
