Theyyath Kari theyyam is a unique and rare theyyam performed during the annual thira kaliyattam theyyam festival in Arayi Village near Kanhangad in Kasaragod district, Kerala. As per information this is a male theyyam and a warrior theyyam. As per Theyyath Kari theyyam story, the theyyam performed humanly impossible acts to save the region. To honor the selfless service performed by the divine person a theyyam is performed annually.
The theyyam is noted for its unique headgear. It also holds a sword and shield.
It is both intriguing and beautiful to watch the theyyam
traveling on a traditional boat across the river to Kalichal Kavu.
