Rudirapalan Theyyam – Story – Information

Rudirapalan is a rare theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur region of Kerala. As per information this is a male theyyam. As per Rudirapalan theyyam story, this is a manifestation of a deity and is believed to have made his presence felt in the region. He protected people and livestock from various attacks. The deity was given a place of worship and a theyyam is performed annually to get his blessings.

This theyyam can be witnessed annually at Mattannur Malur Aryaparambu Sree Koottakkalam temple, Mattannur Kara Perincheri Vengalotu Daivatharkandi Bhagavathi temple and Mattannur Kodolipram Thannakkal Bhagavathy Kavu temple in Kannur.
