Kunhimangalam Sree Velluva Gurikkalam Devasthanam is located at Parambath near Edat - Kunjjimangalam in Kannur district, Kerala. The temple is dedicated to various deities worshiped in sacred grove or kavu in Malabar region of Kerala. The annual Theyyam – Kaliyattam Festival in the temple is held May 11 to May 13 (Malayala Meda Masam 28 to 39).
The annual festival in the temple begins with the Kalavanirakkal
Ghoshayatra on May 11. At night on May 11 there is the Dharma Daivam purappadu,
Velluva Gurikkal and Maruthiyodan Thondachan. On the early morning hours of Karinjjchamundi
theyyam, Ettumurthi theyyam and Elladathu theyyam are performed. On 12th
evening one can witness Vishnumoorthi theyyam, Panchuruli, and Velutha Gurukkal.
On 13th morning Pottan Daivam, Gulikan, Kalichal, Aippali, Kundor Chamundi,
Madayil Chamundi, Kurathi, Kummatti and Mantra Moorthi theyyams are performed.
This is followed by the thirumudi nivaral Kallthattu Bhagavathi and Vankulathu
Bhagavathy. This is followed by koodiyattam.
