Puthichon Theyyam – Story – Information

Puthichon theyyam (പുതിച്ചോന്‍ തെയ്യം) is a rare theyyam seen during the annual theyyam thira kaliyattam festival period in Kannur and Kasaragod districts of Kerala. As per information, this is a male theyyam and a hunter deity. As per Puthichon theyyam story, he is believed to be Keeratha Murthi form of Shiva who appeared before Arjuna. Puloon theyyam performed along with theyyam is believed to be Arjuna.

The deity is offered prayers to achieve peace and prosperity. The theyyam has the characteristics of a hunter.
